everyone is bad at it for the first 6 months. then you and the dog figure each other out. that's the whole thing. there's no version where you start good. you just start.

look the fact that you're scared you'll be bad at it is exactly why you won't be. people who are bad at having dogs never worry about it for one second beforehand. that's the tell.
